Lysty Chicks November Ride

Join us for a relaxed social ride on Lysterfield's beautiful mountain bike trails. We ride in 3 groups, so regardless of your ability and fitness, this is the ride for you. All groups are no drop rides. If the single trails are closed, we will do a mini mystery adventure at Lysterfield Park. Cruisy Competant/Foundation Are you new to the sport? Or wanting to get back into it after a few years away? Whether you’ve never ridden a mountain bike before, or you don't get out that often but enjoy a bit of a challenge, but mostly want a ride through the bush with some features and lots of laughs along the way. This is the group for you. Whether you're an absolute newby, or a competant rider. Come ride with us! Intermediate Relaxed: This ride is for those able to ride their MTB with confidence and would like to explore Lysty at a relaxed pace. Can you ride a loop at Lysty? Is your fitness at a level where you can ride 14-20k comfortably. Can you ride 60-70% of the features at Lysty? Then this ride would suit you. Intermediate Confident: Are you confident on 70-90% of the trails at Lysterfield? Do you ride regularly at Lysty and at other MTB parks? Would like like a bit a speed and a lot of adventure? Then this will be the group for you! You must register for this event, we will be running as separate groups, subject to ride leader availability. Once we have finished join us for coffee and snacks and chats at the Orchard @ Montagues. There is no charge for this event but you MUST register. All riders must have Aus Cycling insurance: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership  Free 4 week trail is available: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/free-trial QR scanning will be available on site, we are required to abide by any vaccine or covid restrictions in place at the time. Summer is PEAK social riding time! Whether you're keen to meet like minded souls or simply discover new trails then we'd love to have you join LDTR on our home turf. We will take in as many of the trails as you can handle! As it's summer, this ride will be subject to the weather forecast - extreme heat or bushfire warnings will result in cancellation, which we will advise you of by email. This ride is open to everyone aged 18+ (anyone under this age is welcome to join but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and be able to ride with an intermediate level of fitness and skill). The meeting point will be at the Horswood Road parking trail head map. We encourage you to plan to meet us at 8:45am for a 9:00am roll out. We will be riding approximately 20 - 30km on blue trails (and black trails for those that are up for it!) so an intermediate level of fitness and skill will be required. Having said that, this will be a no drop ride so you can rest assured that you won't be left behind. You are also free to leave at any time if you have other commitments. If needed one of our ride leaders will be available to safely guide you out. Once finished join us for coffee, snacks and chats at the Orchard @ Montagues. Cornering with Confidence Skills Session: With Chris Back by popular demand! Speedy on the straights, but feeling the nerves in the twisty bits? Join Chris for a cornering masterclass in using body position and effective braking techniques for maximising traction and control in corners. Gain the confidence to lean that bike over in the turns! Note: For the “Cornering with Confidence” masterclass, previous attendance at a Foundations session is strongly recommended. A moderate level of fitness is recommended  ​Minimum Age: 15 years All riders must have Aus Cycling insurance: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership  Free 4 week trail is available: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/free-trial Please have proof of your Aus Cycling membership ready to view before your session starts. Foundation Skills Session: With Trent  Introduction to mountain biking in a safe environment. Covers the key skills such as: Correct body position Braking Using gears  Particular techniques explored on the day will depend on the interests and abilities of the riders present. A moderate level of fitness is recommended  ​Duration: 2 hours ​Minimum Age: 15 years All riders must have Aus Cycling insurance: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership  Free 4 week trail is available: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership/other/free-trial A waiver will be sent prior to the event please confirm and complete it before your session. Come & Try: Adaptive Mountain Biking & Wheelchair Skills

This peer-led event offers those attending the chance to learn more about adaptive mountain biking and/or wheelchair skills in a parkland environment. Whether participating, observing, or assisting, it’s a great opportunity to connect and explore adaptive sports in a welcoming setting. The event aims to strengthen connections between the Royal Talbot and AQA communities, introducing a taster of off-road riding and adaptive equipment while developing skills across various parkland terrains. Attendees can expect a safe and supportive experience, build peer relationships, and explore future opportunities in adaptive riding. Additionally, AQA will share information about its services with both participants and Royal Talbot staff.  An alternative adaptive mountain biking session for those with high support needs (e.g., requiring a hoist or extra time to get in and out of the bikes) will be arranged by Dan Waters (Dan.waters@austin.org.au) for further equipment trials at the Royal Talbot.    Day of the Event (11:45am - 3pm): Participant Arrival: 11:45am Group Activities:  Group A: Adaptive mountain biking Group B: Parkland Wheelchair skills (Session duration: 1 hour) Lunch / Q&A: Enjoy lunch together Group Activity Swap:   Group C: Adaptive mountain biking Group D:  Parkland Wheelchair skills (Session duration: 1 hour) *Note: Places are limited - maximum of 4 adaptive mountain bike riders per each group session to ensure safe and manageable group size. All attendees must register by selecting a free ticket below, including those who plan to observe or assist on the day. Registration also includes a light lunch

Trailblazers Junior Rides are GO GO GO! Ride lengths will be around 1.5hrs, and is open to all abilities (rides may be longer or shorter depending on the riders). Any groups we split off into will be "no drop" and we'll meet up at any junctions for a chat - it's a nice cruisy social ride Is your shredder a Blazer or a Speedy? Blazer, can ride a mix of single track and fireroads and ride approximately 10kms at varied pace. Speedy, can ride 90% of the trails at Lysty and comfortably ride 10-15km.  A parent or guardian is REQUIRED to ride with your child - If you dont ride but your child can ride with a mate and thier guardian, just fill out the details on your ticket. We would love to see some new parent helpers, if you can help out on the day or future events please reach out at administration@lysterfieldmtb.com Time & Place: Please enter via Horswood Road, drive through the gates, and turn LEFT at the roundabout into the carpark, then follow this all the way to the BBQ/Lake carpark at the end. We meet at the BBQ area nearest to the dam wall and skills park. Check-in from 8.30 to 8.30am, for a 9.00am ride out for all groups Meet back up at the BBQ area around 10:30 for some snacks, drinks, and catch up after the ride. Duration: Approx 1.5hrs ride time, varies depending on group speed Cost: FREE! - but you must register all participants (Parents and Guardians do not need to register) All riders MUST have Aus Cycling Insurance, this is non-negotiable: https://www.auscycling.org.au/membership All Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian - we are unable to take unsupervised children for this ride

Social Ride and AGM all in 1 event! Come ride with us, we'll bring the snacks and join in the AGM; its a great way to take in the trails and contribute to the club / park.
